Our Havanese is just the cutesy. The Riposos are the best people to work with. They are in love with their puppies and their teary good-bye proved this to be so.
We are settling in with our puppy, Spanky, getting used to each other every day. he is fun, adorable and so smart. I told him to go get his toy out of his crate and he did it, without any cues from me. He even received a certificate from his puppy class. Have fun with your puppy, you'll just fall in love!

My name is Kathy, and I bought one of Beth's puppies Feb of 2010. I had always had golden retrievers, and needed to down size. So this was my first small dog. While my golden retriever (Skye) was dying, she stayed by the golden's side. She went in the dog house with Skye, slept next to her in her bed, and when Skye couldn't get out of the car, I found Speck in the car with her.
She is the best dog I have ever had. She is very easy to train. We went through obedience level I and II, and Agility classes. We are still learning tricks, because she loves "school". She has now passed her Pet Therapy class, and loves making visits to nursing homes and schools.( a therapy dog provides emotional support to people in need, and has to be calm and obedient around walkers, wheelchairs and crutches). Because her fur so soft and silky, people love to pet her, and she of course, loves to be pet. Then she will lick the child's ear- that seems to be her favorite spot. Her licks are dry, though, not sloppy like some dog's.
She is very much a companion dog- wants to be where ever I am, and has little barks and whines to let me know what she wants ( just like a baby, I learned what each of her noises meant). I did crate her for the first 6 months, till she was house broken for sure, and I knew she would only chew on her toys while I was at work. Now she sleeps on my bed at night, just close enough for warmth now that the evenings are cool. She is very playful, rides well in the car, and loves to go for walks. I just took her on a 3 mile walk through a Minnesota state park to view the leaves, and she did great.
The personality of these dogs is amazing. They are cute, playful, and people love to pet them.Oh, she also like to lay next to my 2 month old grandson when he is on the floor kicking around, and makes sure he is ok, and keeps the other larger dogs away so they don't step on him.
This is probably more than you want to know, but, once I got started, I didn't know where to stop. I think Beth has great dogs, so I would buy another if I still lived close enough!

Hi Beth,
just wanted to thank you so much for raising such a wonderful puppy. Its only been one day but Fenway is settling in so nicely and is such a wonderful addition to our family. He has such a sweet disposition and tempermant and is so much fun. He also slept all night with no problems at all. We couldn't be happier and our four year old is over the moon.
Thank you so much, Michelle |
Dear Bob and Beth:
Our entire family wants to thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We are having the best time with Layla and our older dog is slowly getting used to her energy.
We have a Labradoodle who flew from Australia and our trip from Chicago to Syracuse to pick up Layla was such a nice trip. People laugh when we tell them how far our dogs came from. :) We loved meeting you both and Beth, it was hard for me to take Layla from you because I could tell how close you were to her being the only girl in her litter. But you both love all your puppies. I promised to take good care and that we have.
My husband never wanted a dog years ago, but now 8.5 years later, we have two and they are his best little girls.
Layla follows me everywhere and licks my heals, she does the best cuddling of any dog I've known. She entertains us all the time and is so beautiful and soft.
I'm so glad I saw my friend's Boston Havanese, Noodles on facebook, because I immediately got hold of Beth and reserved a female (Layla). I truly believe in fate and we have such a loving home for our dogs because we were brought together with our dogs in such fun ways.
Beth, take care and we think about you all the time. Hi Bob!

Hi Bobbee and Brad—
Greetings from “Ollie’s House”! Just wanted to touch base and let you know that all is very well with Mr. Ollie. He was a sad pup on the ride to our house, and whimpered much of the way. But ever since then he’s been happy and sweet as can be! We are so honored to be his new family: he is truly an amazing pup. After one small pee accident soon after arriving home, he’s been a champ. He’s gone to the bathroom outside every time he’s been taken out, loves his crate, and is wonderfully affectionate. His tail has been wagging nonstop! Last night went without a hitch—he went right to sleep in his crate and slept until I woke him at 2:30 am to go outside and piddle. Back in the crate and right back to sleep until 6:30 am. Amazing!!!
You did an exemplary job socializing him, because he seems to really enjoy meeting people (he met several neighbors yesterday and at the bus stop today). He’s such a little ball of love! What’s more, he never nips or jumps up on people (or, at least, hasn’t done this so far).
Already, he’s brought such love and fun to our house. My girls and I are absolutely over the moon in love with him. We know how hard it was for you to say goodbye to him, and are so grateful that he’s now part of our family. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I’ll send you updates and new photos every so often.
Hugs,
Margot and the girls
P.S. He took to his new collar very quickly. Wonderful pup! |
Hi Bobbee,
Gracie is really quite the amazing dog. I can give you a few pee/poop examples to show how brilliant this dog is, but I’ll spare them for now. (Although that is really all I talk about to my friends these days!)
She is the hit of the neighborhood, of course. Last night, someone stopped me and said “I have a friend in Seattle, and every day we send each other a photo of the cutest thing we’ve seen that day. May I take a photo of this adorable dog?” Lots of attention as she prances around the area.
Anyway, she went with me to the hairdresser’s yesterday—with Tanissa to help out. Half the time she actually sat on my lap during the whole 1.5 hour process. I am continually impressed with her ease with people, her mellow personality—except with the separation anxiety that we are now dealing with (OMG)—and TA-DA!!!!!: she slept through the night two nights in a row! I’m sure this is an anomaly for now—but it is amazing that her bladder holds. Last night I put her in the crate in the bedroom at 10 (she had actually been asleep in the kitchen since 9) and she went in with not a sound and slept til 6am!!!!
Hope all is well with you, Brad, Sam and the rest of the family. Pam and I would like to schedule a play date/reunion with dogs and you guys. I’ll check with her re the kids’ sport schedules and get back to you.

Hi There... figured you may like a Zoe update.. she's such a GOOD girl!!!! We LOVE her!!! She's adjusting really well and really becoming spunky. On the ride home she rode wrapped around my neck with her head on my shoulder.. cutest thing EVER! She's just SOO good.. no problems with housetraining so far.. she's gone every time we've brought her out and so far her crate has been dry every time
First night I slept w/ her in the living room.. not one bit of crying and she slept most of the night.. she loves her crate and doesn't cry to be in it and goes in it on her own during the day... last night was her first night in it and she went in fine... from 11:45 until 3 am and then had to pee... then she wanted to play until 4:30 am which wasn't good.
Went back to sleep from 4:30 until 5:15 (not great but we're counting our blessings she's so good in other ways and eventually this will get better) She had her first vet visit today... the Dr is super nice and spent so much time with us... she said Zoe's in perfect shape.. (kudos to you too) She didn't cry at all in the car .. we were so happy. She is SO funny and sweet.. and she even let me trim her eyes yesterday! :) The boys are soooooooooo cute with her. I just love seeing them love her so much. She chases them in the yard and runs pretty fast and they giggle the whole time. I'll send photos as soon as I can but I just had to share and say thank you again..
